Beginning in the 2016 season, we will have our startup Draft. This Draft will be 25 rounds. Here are the parameters for our Draft.
1. Draft day will be scheduled Fri May 6.
2. The Draft will be 25 Rounds.
3. The Draft will be conducted on the RTSports site on a 24 hour clock. This 24 hour window is a guideline so a pick is not missed and to allow a trade/trades to be conducted with the franchise on the clock. However, please be courteous to your fellow GMs and make your selection in a timely manner.
4. If you exceed your time of 24 hours, your selection will immediately go to the next franchise and the missed pick will be dropped one spot. IMPORTANT! If your pick exceeds the 24 hour clock, and the Commissioner is online and there are other franchises waiting to draft, the Commissioner reserves the right to skip that pick to accommodate the waiting GMs and therefore, your pick might be dropped several more spots. If an attempt has been made to contact the Commissioner from the GM that has exceeded the 24 hour time frame, then the spot will be held for that GM, and only one draft spot will be lost.
5. Drafted players can be signed to any length contract, or any draft pick can be waived at the discretion of the GM with no penalty.
6. Contracts must be signed in each franchises' War Room. No exceptions. There will be a deadline as determined by the Commissioner when contracts are due. Any player not signed will automatically get a 1 year contract.
7. Drafted players can be traded. However, you must conduct a "sign and trade" from the original franchise that drafted the player to his new franchise traded to. The original franchise must sign that player's contract in his War Room, then conduct the trade. If there is no contract signed, then the trade will be vetoed and reversed. The Commissioner reserves the right to levy a warbuck fine if this is not followed.
Commissioner Comments:
Draft day. I've been in many leagues over the years and nothing gets the blood boiling like Draft Day. My angle for this league is this. The draft will be May 17th the Saturday after the NFL draft. When completed each franchise gets to take a look at their drafted players and decide length of contract, or to waive. This concept is nearly opposite to the mindset of watching rookies during the pre-season then deciding which player to draft. Which one is better? Which one do you prefer? Which way is smarter? I can't answer these questions, although every GM wil have his opinion about it. We are veteran GMs, so this method is how we will draft. Contracts will be due around the last week of pre-season play, I will put this in the "Important Dates/Deadlines" board.
