Ace Tag Defined:
Each GM will be issued one ACE (annual contract extension). Here are the parameters for using your valuable ACE.
1. You can use one ACE on a player on your team once a year. The ACE can be used on any player on your roster whether the player has an expired contract or not. The cost to use each ACE is 10 warbucks. If you decide to use an ACE on a player on your team, you must decide to do this by a deadline determined by the Commissioner. If you use an ACE on a player then re-use your ACE on that same player for the following season, the fee doubles to 20, then doubles each season, for the same player. For example: Team X uses an ACE on Greg Jennings whose contract expires in 2014. He pays the 10 warbucks and now his contract is through 2015. If he decides to use an ACE again on Jennings the following year to extend his contract through 2016, the cost will be 20 warbucks.
2. Each GM can use their ACE on a player acquired via trade or dealt. If a GM completes a deal for a player, he can use his ACE to extend the contract by one year for the cost of 10 warbucks.
3. Each GM can extend the contract of a player by one year using an AC for players acquired via waiver wire during the regular season. All players acquired via waiver wire are signed to that same season contract and will expire after Week 17. Using an ACE will extend the contract of a player through the following year. Example: Team Z acquires WR Danario Alexander for 25 bucks on the blind bid waiver wire. Alexander is automatically signed through the regular season, but by using his ACE, his contract is extended through the 2015 season.
******NOTICE******
You as a GM have to decide when to use your ACE. If you use it to extend the contract of a player on your team, then you can't use it for a traded player or player acquired waiver wire. If you decide to keep your ACE for the waiver wire or a possible trade during the regular season, then you cannot extend a year to a player on your roster, because the deadline will have passed before the regular season. Your ACE cannot be traded nor can it be carried over from season to season.
